Skidmores was founded in 1919 by Edward James Skidmore, who came to Weston to visit his son, who was convalescing after being injured in the 1st World War. He found his perfect location in Worle High Street and set about serving the local community with hardware, ironmongery, paint, new and used furniture. Today Skidmores is still an independent furniture retailer based in Worle.
