The Bowling Green Iron has recently been bought and donated to the club by Ladies Captain, Sally Hopkins and Treasurer Sean Hopkins, in memory of Sally’s brother, David Clarke, who died suddenly last year.
David spent over 20 years as a highly acclaimed senior aerodynamic designer for various Formula 1 racing teams, including being part of the success of Red Bull’s dominant F1 team since it was formed in 2005. Sally decided to commemorate his life and achievements by buying this piece of equipment even though it is ironically the furthest you can get from a Formula 1 racing car! Look out for the Red Bull F1 stickers as it “zooms” up and down both greens!
We would like to say an enormous thank you to Sally and Sean. Whilst we are rightly proud of the quality of our greens, there is always more that can be done and we look forward to seeing the results over the coming season.
