Our Open Day on 1st August was a great success. Postponed from our normal date in May due to Covid-19 restrictions, it was arranged at short notice by our efficient and dedicated team of members.
With the social distancing, hygiene requirements and one-way systems having been well tested during Club sessions, everything went smoothly. The only additional formality was that non-members were required to leave a record of contact details.
By the end of the day we had a total of 27 visitors – not bad for a scratch event. Some were new to bowls, others had played before and were thinking of returning and many committed to attending our Wednesday and Saturday coaching sessions, which are free for six weeks for potential new members.
As well as our Club coaches, a good number of Ashcombe members turned up to assist with the running of things and, after a brief shower first thing, the sun shone all day.
Even the Canna Lilies put on a show!
Many thanks to all those who helped make this day a success, your efforts are sure to pay dividends.
