Dress Code 2022​

Bowls England has spent most of the ‘Covid months’ talking to County Associations, grass root bowls and club members, and carrying out various surveys of the general public, to try and establish a focussed route on how to attract new members.  It became clear from the answers that, generally, bowls is deemed ‘too stuffy’ regards to uniform rules and they have advised all clubs to consider their policies.   

We have already relaxed our dress code by allowing members to dress casual when ‘rolling-up’ and believe the time is right to allow casual dress for ‘Umbrella Club Nights’ as well.  Therefore, the Ashcombe’s Dress Code for 2022 is as follows:

President’s Opening Day and Captains’ Closing Day

Club Officials:     Blazer, tie and whites.

Bowlers: Club shirt and whites. Club jackets / fleeces if required.

Annual Club Competitions up to and including, semi-finals.

Club shirt and greys.

Annual Club Competition Finals

Club shirt and whites.

Friendlies, Inter-club Competitions (inc. external leagues), Tourist Games.

Club shirt with whites or greys, as notified on the selection sheets.

Umbrellas, Roll-Ups, internal leagues,

Smart casual clothing.

Markers.

 The same dress code as for the players or E.B.U.A. uniform

Footwear

When wearing greys or whites, white socks.

Flat soled shoes, with minimum tread/grip must be worn when on the greens. Do not wear these shoes to the Club.

DEFINITIONS

WHITES:

Club shirt, white collared top, white trousers, white medium length shorts; white skirts, white socks

GREYS:

Club shirt, white collared top, grey trousers; grey medium length shorts, grey skirts; white/grey socks, as appropriate.

CASUAL:

Smart casual – no vests or ripped jeans please.

MISC:

Caps/hats, if worn should be Club cap or plain white

Club blazers can be worn with a white shirt, or alternatively wear Club shirt with bomber jacket.
