Cookie and privacy policy

The Ashcombe Park Bowling Club website uses cookies. Cookies are files sent by web servers to web browsers and stored by the web browsers.

A cookie is a small file of letters and numbers which, if you agree, is stored on your computer’s hard drive by your web browser when you visit a website. This helps us to provide you with a good experience when you browse our website and allows us to improve our site. Information is then sent back to the server each time the browser requests a page from the server. This enables a web server to identify and track web browsers.

By continuing to browse the site, you are agreeing to our use of cookies.

The majority of web browsers will give you the option to turn off or disable cookies by adjusting the settings of the browser. The instructions for this process can usually be found in the ‘Help’ menu of the browser. However, if you use your browser settings to block all cookies (including essential cookies) you may not be able to access all or parts of our site.

Visitors to our website

We use cookies on this website, for the following purposes:

  • Make the pages load quicker by sharing the workload across computers
  • Ensure our website pages are optimised for your browser or device by giving us technical information about the device (computer, tablet or mobile phone) and the browser you are using.
  • To enable certain elements of the site, e.g. Google Maps, to function correctly.

When someone visits we use a third-party service to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns.  We also use Google Analytics to provide us with detailed information on how the website is being used. This information does not include any personally identifying data.

We do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the site. This information is processed in a way that does not identify anyone. We do not make, and do not allow any third party to make, any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our website.

For the purposes of tracking traffic flow to and around the website, we store information including:

  • Your IP address
  • The top-level domain name used (for example .com, .org, .net)
  • The previous website visited, including any search terms used
  • Click stream data which shows the pages visited on the website
  • The type of web browser used by the website visitor

However, none of this information can identify you personally.

For non-Member visitors to the site we do not, at present, collect any personally identifiable information through our website, e.g. by using a “Contact Us” form, but should this change we will be open and transparent about this. We will make it clear when we collect personal information, what that information is and what we intend to do with it.

When Members of Ashcombe Park Bowling Club log-in to the Members’ Area and use the On-line rink booking your User-name, Password, e-mail address and IP address are used to verify membership, grant access to and permit rink booking. The use of this information is covered by the Club’s G.D.P.R. policy which you will have agreed to when joining the Club or renewing membership. A copy of this is posted in the Pavilion or, alternatively, may be obtained from the Club’s Secretary.
